End-of-Line Test Bench for Kitchen Appliances

At the end of production, every appliance must be checked quickly, safely and traceably. WSK Elektronik has developed an end-of-line test bench for kitchen appliances that evaluates the key electrical and functional characteristics in a guided sequence and clearly assigns the result to each individual unit. The automated sequence takes 30 seconds; including loading and unloading, the station achieves a capacity of 60 appliances per hour.

The Testing Task

The final inspection must match the production cycle time and must not slow down the line. At the same time, four different appliance configurations run through the same station, each requiring its own parameters and limit values. In addition to electrical safety and electrical characteristics, the heating and weighing functions, controls and device communication are relevant. Every result must remain unambiguously assigned to the inspected unit.

The Customised Solution

The test bench guides the operator through inserting and contacting the appliance. After manual loading, the system works through the defined steps automatically, limiting manual work to loading and unloading.

The variant is detected automatically at the start, and the corresponding program with the appropriate variant-specific limit values is loaded. This allows four different appliance configurations to run through the same station without changeover.

The sequence checks electrical safety and further electrical characteristics and runs through functional routines – from the heating and weighing functions and the controls to device communication. Each measured value is evaluated immediately against the stored limits.

The overall evaluation produces a clear pass/fail decision. The result is stored per unit and is available for traceability and for transfer to higher-level systems.
