The Customer-Specific Test Solution
The system receives the components from an automated feeding unit and transports them to the designated inspection positions. The handling process is designed to ensure that contours and surfaces remain undamaged throughout the entire cycle.
At the inspection stations, the relevant component areas are optically captured from the required perspectives. Evaluation is performed by software based on predefined quality criteria, ensuring that every part is assessed according to the same standards.
Based on the inspection result, the system control automatically determines the next step for each component. Depending on the detected defect type, parts are classified as good parts, reworkable parts, or rejects and are then separated accordingly. The inspection area is enclosed for protection and designed for continuous series production.
The inspection sequences can be parameterized so that different component variants can be tested on the same system. Inspection characteristics, evaluation criteria, and sorting logic can be adapted to new part geometries.
Functions of the Visual Inspection System
- Automatic feeding and gentle handling of stamped and embossed parts
- Defined positioning for optical inspection from multiple perspectives
- 100% inspection of functionally relevant component characteristics
- Software-based evaluation according to defined inspection criteria
- Automatic classification and separate output of parts according to the detected defect type
- Parameterizable inspection sequences for different component variants
- Enclosed system area for safe operation in series production
- Optional: archiving of inspection images, connection to the line control system, and batch and part traceability
Benefits for Production and Quality Assurance
Automated visual inspection ensures consistent evaluation, independent of the operator. Defective parts are detected at an early stage and reliably removed from the production flow before they proceed to further manufacturing steps.
With a cycle time of 7 seconds and a designed annual production volume of around 3.5 million parts, 100% inspection can be integrated into series production even at high volumes. Manual inspection effort is reduced while the reproducibility of quality control is increased. At the same time, the system creates a reliable data basis for process optimization.
